For the past few years my husband has always purchased me a voucher for a dog friendly hotel as part of my Christmas present. I hate holidaying without my beloved pooches. On this occasion my husband Will, purchased us a spa break for Armthwaite Hall Spa Hotel up in the Lakes.
We visited in November. Upon arrival we saw some gorgeous Alpacas in the field. We were greeted with a Sherry at Reception and Eve our Irish Water Spaniel enjoyed the fuss and admiration of staff and other clients. We arrived early enough before sunset and had a brief walk around the grounds, the air was crisp, the beautiful smell of Autumn and the fresh smell of falling leaves, Eve enjoyed the potter around. The grounds to walk around were incredible, with amazing views over one of the Lake Districts finest lakes, there is an outdoor hot tub where you can have a Prosecco and soak up the amazing views in peace and tranquillity, which we did.
The grand ambience of the dining and bar areas are decorated in history, with grand doorways and high windows, and the roaring crackling open fire places really makes you feel at home and in a special place. There are 2 restaurants on site spa which I recommend in its entirety. The food is first class, both dining areas were just mwah! Including the breakfast the next morning. The spa is a first class facility very clean, welcoming, staff were friendly, the treatments were fantastic.
We were allocated a down stairs room with a little flagged garden area with a patio with chairs and table, this was great for letting Eve out to stretch her legs. The rooms themselves were very comfortable with additional treats for Eve to make her feel welcome, there was a dog bed, bowl, treats and poop bags. Little touches like this definitely add to the Canine spa experience.
Sometimes going away with your best friend can limit the places that you go to, but I can wholeheartedly say that this didn’t happen on this occasion.
The Lake District is very well known for its dog loving community and so much so our days out included Eve, she went shoe shopping, visited the café, visited the gift shops, visited the pub for lunch and even got treats for it.
5 out of 5 paw points from us!
